December was here and now its gone. Where did it go? December was a very busy month for us and I know it was for you too. Christmas party after Christmas party. Lots of fun and think of all the memories you made that will last a lifetime. We hope you had a fantastic Christmas. Here are a few pics of our Staff Christmas party.

Say Hello to January! Winter is always an astonishing sight to see at Huzzah Valley, seeing snowflakes sprinkled over campsites and before you know it the ground will be completely covered.
We are getting ready for 2012!! This is going to be an exciting year at Huzzah Valley. Be sure to check out our Calendar of Events on our website at www.huzzahvalley.com. New in 2012 is some more lodging, per your request. Here is a picture of the start of the new lodging unit.

2012 will hold a new summer season, but you don't have to wait until then, we are open all year round. I know you think it's cold outside but you know what, we have heated cabins and frost free RV hookups. So there is no reason not to get out of the house. Give us a call and come on down.

We've seen some eagles but haven't been able to get any pictures of them, hopefully soon.

Fall is among us!

Fall is here and soon winter will be too!! Being here at Huzzah Valley during fall is just so breathtaking. The leaves on the trees are so beautiful. If you haven’t been camping during the fall season, you don’t know what you are missing. Huzzah Valley is the best place to camp during fall or any time of the year. Here are a few pictures taken at Huzzah Valley during fall.

Horseback riding during fall is a must. If you have never been riding during fall, give us a call. We don’t want you to miss out on this beautiful experience between you and nature.

Winter will be here before long. Remember we do have cabins and frost free hydrants, so don’t let the weather keep you at home this winter. Give us a call and make your reservation now.

Summer Isn't Over!

It's been a while fellow bloggers, but don't fret Huzzah Valley is still here and still your number one complete family resort. This summer has been a great one to us, and it's still not over! August has just begun and with it comes the blistering heat. For some it's a time to hide indoors where the air conditioner is on high, but for others it's a perfect chance to go floating down the Huzzah.
Although you would think that the heat would turn away a lot of people, you'd be surprised. For the past three weekends we've be booked with exciting and content campers. Our next couple of weekends is filling up, but we still have availability.
For floating, our river is low, but that comes with the three weeks of heat. However that aspect shouldn't turn you away. Our pristine waters are perfect for friends and family, to come and have an awesome time. Right now our 2 or 3 mile tube trip is superb and absolute for the dog days of summer.

And after your sublime floating experience you can come to our Country store to cool down and order one of our Hunts Brother's pizza, with toppings of your choice or our new Southern or Hot & Spicy wings.

April showers bring May flowers...or at least that is how the saying goes. With the plentiful spring showers we have been blessed with this April, we are really hoping that we will have large amounts of May flowers. The rain has finally let up and we would like to make sure that everyone knows that our waters are in great condition to float. We would also like to let everyone know that with any large amount of water our waters do have a tendency to rise, but as quick as our water rises, it lowers. The Huzzah River is also the clearest river around, after a big rain the Huzzah is back to crystal clear in no time. With the waters being up in the early spring, rafts are able to float sections of the river not available to float in the late summer. Rafts are also famous for not tipping, so that is something that a lot of people enjoy in the spring, simply because the water is a little bit colder then it is in the summer. Kayaks are perfect and easy way to maneuver through the water. Our website has a link to USGS water levels, showing real time data of the Huzzah River. Rain or shine Huzzah Valley Resort is open.

We would like to thank Everyone who was able to make it to our opening weekend celebration a few weeks ago. The weather did not want to cooperate as nice as we would have liked but we all had a great time. Everyone seemed as though they had a blast.

The kids played in the bounce house, rode horses, painted a canoe, and played games to win prizes. The Beverly's Hillbillies entertained the crowd for hours with their blue grass music.

The season is officially in full swing. The store is being stocked, the reservations are being made, and it is just a matter of time before the sun will be here warming up the waters. This year we are trying something new...we are having several summer special events through out the summer. We are also having several BBQ competitions through out the summer as well. Winter just is not wanting to let go...
but...that is not an option!! The weather will be warmer before we know it.
Summer is just around the corner! Things are in full swing down in the valley. This year we are turning 32. When we step back and say “Thank You” to all the people our lives have touched. The success of Huzzah Valley Resort is attributable to so many GREAT customers and the entire community of Steelville. Huzzah Valley is only part of the greater success of Steelville as the “Home of Hospitality” and the “floating Capital of Missouri”. Reflecting on 32 years brings up so many emotions. We are an extended family here at Huzzah Valley, when we started there was only 3 canoes, and a dozen places to camp. We have expanded and continue to do so. We are continuing to make Huzzah valley Resort Missouri’s Most Completely Family Resort. This year we are asking everyone to come help us celebrate our birthday. April 15^th-17^th we are going to have a blast. And we wouldn’t be able to do any of it without you, our loyal customers.

Enjoy 2 nights of camping, a whole hog roast dinner, and entertainment. The meat will be provided; we are just asking that everyone bring a covered dish. That weekend only get 2^nd night of camping FREE with a paid canoe or raft trip on Saturday the 16^th. List of events include. Friday, April 15^th check into your campsite and relax by your campfire. We recently updated all of the décor in our lodging units. This was an upgrade long in the making. The new bedding and shower curtains brings the outdoors rustic feeling to our lodging units.

Cabin Fever!

January has come and gone! The snow has been falling, and falling, and falling!!! We have reached over 30 inches of snow this winter so far and unfortunately the winter is not over yet...However Groundhog day has arrived. "The Famous ground hog usually foresees six more weeks of winter, but the Punxsutawney Phil 2011 prediction is for early spring according to csmonitor.com. Hopefully this brings celebration! Cabin fever has set in!
In order to break the monotony we had some courageous individuals tough out the Blizzard of 2011 and even enjoyed a round of golf.
This weekend will be the same, another bunch of guys are braving out the bitter cold for their annual winter float.
Here is the winner of our recent Photo Contest. We are always looking for new and exciting (but clean) photos to help spread the word of the fun to be had in the valley. The sun is starting to shine and melt the snow away, which means more campers down in the Valley. We are verging on spring weather with the high in the 60s this weekend. Updates on Huzzah Valley!

Want to get away from the stress of everyday life or just want to get out of the city? Give us a call. We have 3 cabins that we keep open year round. They have heat so you can be sure to stay warm! This is the time of year were you could see a lot of wildlife, like eagles in the sky or even deer. You never know what type of animal you might find here at Huzzah Valley Resort, so bring you camera! We are also still doing float trips. The water might be a little chilly but the scenery is beautiful! Don’t forget we do have RV sites that are equipped with frost free hydrants. So see we do have something for everyone!!

Since the weather has been so nice this Fall. We have slowly been doing a few things to some of our lodging units. We did purchase new comforters and shower curtains for the cabins.

I think they look really good! Who knows maybe we will do all of our lodging units! Log into Facebook and tell us what you think about our new comforters.

Fall is just around the Corner!

Are you looking for something to do this fall? Come on down and take a trail ride on a horse, canoe the great outdoors or bring your tent or RV and set up camp. Be sure to bring your camera, there will be lots of shots that you won’t want to miss out on. The leaves have already started to change. The evenings are nice and cool, so don’t forget to pack a warm blanket or sleeping bag. With all of the recent rainfall we have been having the water is in excellent shape right now.

If you have a group of 20 or more, we have the package for you. We have the Fall Finale Package. This package includes 2 nights of lodging/camping, 1 float trip and 1 BBQ Dinner. This package is as low as $ 48.27 a person. Give us a call for more details on this. For just $5.00 dollars a person with a group of 15 or more we can even do a hayride for you. Hayrides are the perfect way to end a wonderful day on the Huzzah.

If your looking to get a way and fish for the day. We have the perfect trip for you. You can either do a 3 mile or 6 mile trip in a canoe. If your interested in the fishing conditions here they are: Topwater and jig fishing have been best. The bass are scattered and are migrating back downstream to their wintering holes right now. The fish are now grouping up and if you hook one be looking for others swimming along with it as you reel it in.

Summer is winding down. So if you haven’t had a chance to come down and enjoy the great outdoors. Now is your chance. It’s getting to be that time of the year again. The birds are chirping, the sun is shining and the fish are biting. All of us here at Huzzah Valley Resort are getting excited about the upcoming camping and floating season. It has been a really long winter and we are ready for the spring and summer temps. Don’t forget to give us a call and plan your perfect summer vacation here at Huzzah Valley Resort. We are planning a lot of fun and exciting things here this summer.

The upcoming weekend is going to be gorgeous, the temperatures are supposed to be above 50. So if you have been inside too long this winter and want to get out, give us a call. It’s going to be a great weekend and you don’t want to waste your day sitting inside, when you could be outside enjoying the Great Outdoors here at Huzzah Valley Resort!
Mark you calendars for May 15th, 2010. This is going to be our 1st Annual Bass Fishing Tournament. We are calling this our CPR (Catch, Photo and Release) Contest. We are really excited about this and we hope you can make it. The tournament starts at 7:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm. We are going to have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. The tournament waters are on the Huzzah River only. Check out our website for more details.

We would like to thank everyone that came out to any of our Sport Shows. We loved seeing you and enjoyed talking to you. Sport Shows are always so fun for us. They give us a chance to better know our customers and be a little more involved with them. Winter has arrived at Huzzah Valley!!

The snow and cold temperatures have arrived. Don't let this cold weather keep you from a memory that will last a lifetime. The Huzzah River is beautiful this time of year. With the fresh fallen snow and the eagles soaring above, right now is the perfect time for a Winter Float!! This past weekend we did have some floaters who floated in the snow and they loved it!

They floated about 16 miles and had a blast.

Don't let the weather keep you away. Huzzah Valley has rustic heated cabins, that will keep you nice and cozy in this weather!

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. If you want to buy your "sweetheart" something fabulous, give us a call and get them a gift certificate. They can use it for whatever they may want. You can never go wrong with a gift certificate.

Fall is here!!

Due to the recent high amounts of rain fall we are only able to float one section of the Huzzah...however that will not be the case for long. We will post as soon as all sections are float able again so you can enjoy the wildlife venturing out to the waterside for a cool refreshing drink.

It is that time of year where the temperature is dropping and the leaves are changing colors, making it the perfect time to visit Huzzah Valley Resort. Horseback riding is still available until the end of October ( so take advantage now). With the leaves changing colors and the cool air it makes for a very relaxing and enjoyable ride for all ages.

Last week was Customer Appreciation weekend. It was a blast for everyone involved. There was a bonfire and hayride for everyone to enjoy. The staff even participated in a company hayride with their families.

There was a beautiful moon out the night of the hayride, which lit up huzzah wonderfully. Halloween is just around the corner and the staff here at Huzzah valley is decorating the store for fall.

It is only a matter of time before the snow starts to fall so don't miss out on your last chance to enjoy the great outdoors before it is too cold. Its the time to nestle up by the fire and roast marshmallows before crawling into a pile of blankets in hopes to keep warm through the night. For the next ten days it is going to be highs in the 60's with lows in the 40's. Head out to huzzah for an unplanned stay, but don't forget your extra blankets!!

Now that summer is coming to an end

Just because summer is coming to an end, it does not mean that it is time to put away the tent for the year. This is the perfect time to enjoy the cool breeze of the valley while roasting marshmallows. Horseback riding is spectacular in the fall. The leaves will be changing colors soon, making the ride around the Ozark mountains that more enjoyable.

It is always fun to enjoy a tube ride down the river, if you are not looking for a long float...we do offer campground use (so you can float any time) Or how about try a Hayride (15per min.)
Hayrides are another way to enjoy the cool nights around the valley. The last few weeks have been full of hayrides and horseback riders.
Boyscout troops around the St Louis area have made Huzzah Valley their second home. Now that everyone is in the swing of things, and the newbies are stepping up, it is the perfect time to get out there and learn the ways of the wild.
This weekend alone Huzzah Valley hosted 2 different boyscout groups, including one of the largest groups in Missouri.
It always seems to be a blast when friends are hanging out together and enjoying time on the water as well as around the campfire.
No matter your age, it is always fun to sit by the fire and talk about old times, new times, anytime.
Even though the temperature is dropping it is still a wonderful time to spend on the water. The cooler the weather, the more wildlife will begin to show up along the banks of the Huzzah River. The wildlife, along with the leaves changing colors will leave you speech less as you float and enjoy the spectacular view.
There is no time like the present, life is all about making memories. So enjoy a trip to the great outdoors here at Huzzah Valley Resort

Even though everyone is going back to school does not mean the summer is over. We still have plenty of sun before fall arrives. This is the perfect time to enjoy the crystal clear huzzah!! Tubing is one way to enjoy the entire family.

This past weekend we had a record number of tubers floating the 2 and 3 mile runs. It is truly a wonderful way to spend some time with the family...and the biggest bonus... it is only 10 dollars.

This year has been a summer to remember. Even though the economy has been rather low lately, many families have found their way here to enjoy their vacation time. Who needs Florida when you have Huzzah!!

Now that summer is starting to wrap up, it is time for all of us here at Huzzah Valley Resort to start thinking about fall and wonderful ways to help you enjoy the Fall season as well. We have several ways to enjoy fall this year. We offer the fall finale, the rodeo extravaganza, and new this year... CUSTOMER APPRECIATION WEEKEND.

The first weekend in October!...mark your calender now. Much like our opening party we had at the beginning of this year, we are expecting a pretty good turn out. Check your email for more details!! It is our turn to thank our customers for another wonderful summer!!.This year we are planning on having live music, dancing, a bonfire for all to enjoy and even hayrides upon request. This years Rodeo Extravaganza is going to be one to remember. Partake in The Rodeo Extravaganza and receive a ticket to the 43rd Annual Ozark Trailblazer Rodeo. This attraction is a local favorite. A two day event enjoyed by many around the state. The package here at Huzzah offers a Saturday night ticket. Events scheduled for the rodeo consist of: steer wrestling, calf roping, bull riding, bronco riding, the calf scramble...where the kids chase the calf, and the wild cow race. The summer is starting to come to an end and it is that time of year to get in the last final summer float before the kids have to catch the school bus for one more year. If you haven't had a chance to make it down yet this year...it is the perfect time!!!

Our river is in great condition, thanks to all of the rain we have had the last few months. 90 degree weather has filled the air for a while now, making the river the most enticing aspect of huzzah valley.

Even the staff here at Huzzah Valley Resort have managed to find time to relax during the rush of the summer. During the week there was an all resort volleyball tournament...which was outstanding team building.

Constantly on the move

It is that time of year again, and we are in full swing. We are constantly making reservations for the summer, and are thrilled about that. The water is in perfect condition right now for floating. No matter if you are wanting to float alone in a tube or kayak

...or with a group of friends or family in a raft! We have you covered. The weather has been outstanding. Today there is a high of 92 degrees here in steelville. Always remember your sunscreen...you don't wanna burn...

This weekend is the official annual blitzstock 09. If you haven't made your reservations feel free to give us a call and we can take care of that for you. Malcome acoustic, ME 3 and Malcome Blitz will be playing Saturday June 6th at the Event Barn. Call us for more details.

Last weekend was a huge success here in the valley. Huzzah Valley is a great place for your church or family to have their get together. Here is the Warrenton Wesleyan Church celebrating their annual camp out.

The summer is just beginning and here are Huzzah...we can't wait! It always seems like the summers always fly by way to fast. Remember to get out every once in a while with the family and spend some quality time together. Not a fan of a crowd...try bringing your family out on a week day to enjoy the river at its finest.

Spring flood 09 update

Just a little update…

The water here at huzzah valley has finally gone back into the banks…we are very lucky nothing was damaged due to the flood waters…the wonderful guys outside were able to get everything to safety in time and it did not make it up to the cabins or into the store. ( more pictures can be found on Facebook)

The river is still not floatable at this time, but it is dropping just as fast as it came up. If you are in the mood for a float, give us a call before you make the trip down to Huzzah valley. At this point in time floating is not an option for the day…tomorrow we are still up in the air on if rafting will be available, for sure no canoes… This flood has made for an eventful weekend.

The men have been busy putting everything back into place, and we even have the construction crew working hard yet again today.

The campground is drying out and we have ever more campers then last night…which is awesome!. The weather is breathtaking, sunny and 67degrees.

It has been a perfect day for horseback riding…we have had several groups going out on rides. We have been getting rave reviews back on the rides.

An action-packed week in the valley

This week has been a week of excitement, and thrills. The unexpected happened more then once this week. Despite the rain, our construction has progressed. Painting of the stalls, installation of the toilets and showers, and even lighting has begun to go in. What an accomplishment. The rain has pushed back construction for most of the winter and spring, but the rains will no longer damper our progression. We are still receiving orders daily of clothes and other goodies for the store…we are in full throttle mode running fast towards Memorial Day. The count down has begun and we are putting the final touches on all our big plans for the year.

Hummingbirds have ventured in the store in several occasions within the past few weeks. Not long ago we were able to capture one such hummingbird and get him to safety, (thanks to the help of three devout employees). This was not as easy as one would think. Unfortunately not long after being set free, he decided he wanted to try again. At this point in time, we have not had any luck getting him down...but we are hopeful!

Rain. Rain. And More Rain. Last night it rained a hefty storm, which did not let up until last this afternoon, Filled with tons of tornado sirens, hail storms (as big as soft balls, in a near by town) and a down pouring of rain. As soon as noon hit, the rain stopped and the sun came out. It turned into a very beautiful day….minus the big drama

At this point the water has came up over 10 feet and is still rising…but it has not stopped our campers…we have several campers who have found the only dry place in the entire campsite and sat up their tents. You got to love hard core campers. The water is about to reach the steps of the store. I have attached several pictures, however more can be found on our face book account under spring flood 09.

Even though our field looks like a lake, it has turned out to be a great day around the valley. The guys were very busy trying to get all of our picnic tables and any thing else that might float way out of the campground. And they spend a few hours traveling back and fourth from the lea house to the raft barn transporting our canoes, and rafts to safety. (the staff of huzzah is wonderful)

We even had a professional kayaker venture on a quick 2 mile run in less then 15 minutes. (Huzzah fans are die hard). Don’t forget to become a fan on our facebook page…and make your reservation for Memorial Day…it is going to be a blast.

Boy we sure lucked out on the weather this past weekend. Even though it was drizzling rain and cooler, it could have been alot worse, weather wise. Today is just absolutely FANTASTIC. The weather is so nice. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and all is calm. After a busy weekend last weekend we are getting ready for the next busy weekend. If you are reading this and have no plans for Memorial Day weekend, we still have openings. We have lodging and campsites available. Just call us, our new shower house will be ready and hopefully the weather will be as wonderful as it is today!

Today has been a very wet and windy day. The temperature was around 68 degrees and the water level is at 3.5 feet with a cubic discharge of around 320 feet per second. The water level is perfect for floating this time of year. What happen to the nice warm sunny weather? Does anyone know? I want the sun to shine and the wind to quit blowing. This past weekend was beautiful. I hope everyone got out and enjoyed it. I know I sure did. Let me know what you did by commenting on this blog.

Our shower house is coming along very nicely the roof is almost done. We are now picking out colors to paint the shower house. Who knew it would be such a hard decision.

Isn't this weather great? It's about time!! The temperature today is around 70 degrees. The sun is shining and the wind is not blowing, making it possible for our construction crew to continue progress on our Shower House. Due to the recent amount of rain, our construction crew has been on hold, but with this weather they have been able to pick back up. The trusses are set and the roof will be done soon. It's starting to really look good. Check our facebook page for more pictures on the Shower House! The river level will be perfect for floating this weekend. After all the rain we received and now the sun is shining, the mushrooms should be popping out. Has anyone found any? If so comment on our blog and let us know. Monday news

It's Monday and we are cleaning up after our Opening Weekend/30th Birthday Party celebration. It was a Fabulous day last Saturday even though it rained it was still a great turnout. It was wonderful to see all of our customers and friends. Hopefully everyone got enough to eat and had fun. I had a stupendous time and enjoyed my steak tremendously. Today we are eating the birthday cake that we forgot to put out for the Party, (Sorry guys). We do have the pictures from our celebration posted on Facebook, so please feel free to look at them and comment. We can't say enough "Thank Yous" to everyone who has made Huzzah Valley what it is today, but we will try. "THANK YOU!!!!!!"

It's been awhile since we have been able to blog, we are all concentrating on getting everything ready for our 30th Birthday party this weekend. The count down has begun and even though we have seen a peek at the first forecast and we asked them to change it.We are not going to say the R word, because it doesn't matter we are all going to be together and having a GREAT time. We are planning the trivia and games today and we are all getting soooo excited. If anybody has any suggestions what they would like to do, please let us know. In honor of our birthday celebration, some of our biggest fans have came out to same hello and happy birthday. We are in the process of making an anniversary celebration video...here is a taste of what we have in store

The walls have begun to come up in the new shower house…which is awesome! The guys seem to be working all of the time trying to get it finished by the first of May. Despite a little bit of rain the last few days, the construction process has been continually going.

Speaking of the rain…it is always nice to have a lot of rain in the spring time. We need all the rain we can get in order to make sure the river is in the best condition for the summer time float trips. The water is in great condition for a spring time float…the trees are all in bloom and the scenery is breathtaking around here.

It is that time of year again…everyone around here is working hard to get the store back to tip top shape for everyone to enjoy all summer long…our orders are in and the walls are being rearranged…

Boy we needed some rain, but not all in one day. As long as there is no thunder or lightening, I'm fine with that. I like it when it rains as long as we just get rain. How is everybody doing on this fine Tuesday afternoon? After yesterday seeing all the fire trucks around, the rain is a welcome site. It has shut down our progress on the showerhouse but at least the flowers and trees will get a nice drink. Next thing you know we will have the lawn mowers going because the grass will be getting tall. Spring is such a fabulous time of year. New growth and an awakening of all of our surroundings. Breaking New Ground!

Good Afternoon. Today we poured the concrete on the New Shower House. Isn't that exciting!!

Hopefully it won't be much longer and it will be open for all to see. Check out more pictures on Facebook. Hello! What a glorious Wednesday!! We are enjoying a fantastic week at Huzzah Valley. We have people camping, kayaking, canoeing and just plain relaxing out in the sun. I, myself, actually BBQ'd hamburgers last night and they were good. (If I do say so myself! lol) We would love to hear what you guys are doing or have done this week to enjoy the wonderful temps this week. Anybody been fishing? Hiking? Isn't this weather great! I wish it was like this everyday! The water level is 2.60 feet and the discharge is around 120 cubic feet per second. I would love to be outside in this gorgeous weather. Get out and take a walk or a drive to Huzzah Valley . The temperature is supposed to be around 70 degrees today and 43 degrees tonight. This is the perfect camping, floating or horseback riding weather. We did put in a few canoes and kayaks today. Our new Shower House is coming along. It won't be long before it is open for our customers. Have a Great Day!

Good Afternoon!! I hope everyone has enjoyed today. It's cloudy today, but it's nice weather. I think there is a chance of showers today, off and on. Hopefully it will miss us. The water level is 2.72 feet and the discharge is 102 cubic feet per second. The water temperature is around 52 degrees. This is the perfect weather for horseback riding, which will open on March 12,2009. So if you have been wanting to get out and ride a horse, give us a call and we can set something up for you. Well it's Monday again. Did everyone have a great weekend. I did, except for the bad weather on Sunday. We had some severe storms pass thru our area. The wind was blowing so hard, it was hailing and it was cold. There were even tree uprooted around us. Don't worry the river isn't flooded. Its in great shape to go floating. Something good has came out of the rain, the grass is turning green. Isn't that great! This means it's getting closer to Summer time. Can't wait for that, can you?

Crazy MO Weather

Can you believe that Wednesday we were floating down the river and now this Saturday there is a chance of 1-3 inches of snow? That's crazy Missouri weather for you. We are looking forward to breaking ground on our new showerhouse. Hopefully as soon as the weather clears up we will be able to do this. I'm looking forward to Spring, the dogwoods will be blooming, birds singing, a little sun on my face. Tell me what you think of the crazy Missouri weather.

Further my Paddlesport Education

Today Valley, Amy, Michele, Corey and Colin are currently attending the Paddlesports School to further our education in the Paddlesports Industry. We are getting ready to float the lower six miles of the Huzzah River. Wow can you believe we are canoeing in February!! It's true, it's a fabulous day and any day that the sun is shining is a great day to be out on the Huzzah. Check out our blog tomorrow and we will tell you how great the river was, don't be too jealous you can enjoy the Huzzah too.
